Have you noticed the default font for Microsoft Office lately?
If you have then you have noticed that the default font has changed from Times New Roman to Calibri. My investigation is to try understanding the reasons behind this change and look further into how we look at fonts now and the possibility of change.compare6-16

The history of Times New Roman is that its a serif font that is used by the British newspaper, The Times, which was founded in 1931. It was designed by Stanley Morison and Victor Lardent and it was made on the basis of wanting a better font to read. As history has shown the font has gone on to become the default font for every essay known to man and to all secondary and post secondary schools all around the world.

The history of Calibri is that its a sans-serif font that was first introduced in the Microsoft Offices 2007.It was made by Lucas De Groot to take advantage of the new era of computer/Internet demographic that are used to it now. More and more computer users are gradually realizing the change and most of them never even considered the change.

An interesting fact is that Times New Roman was introduced because it made it easier for people to read the newspaper and they could read clearer. As time has gone and now being in the new millennium people read the newspaper less and read on the computer more therefore that is why Calibri was chosen. Calibri was chosen because it is soft and warmer to read on the computer.

As time goes on and we soon realize that when we are writing essays or just our thought and you begin to wonder what the hell is this font, then you have to search for Times New Roman because you realize that its not on the top anymore, this is when you begin to realize that decades are changing and Caliri is now apart of that change.
